Saudi Arabia stunned Lionel Messi's Argentina on Tuesday, beating the two-time winners 2-1 in one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history. Salem Al-Dawsari hit a stunning winner to sink the red-hot favourites, bringing the South American side's 36-match unbeaten run to a shuddering halt.
Qatar- Saudi Arabia pulled off the biggest shock of the World Cup by beating Argentina on Tuesday.
Argentina, one of the pets to lift the jewel, dominated the first half and took the lead thanks to Lionel Messi's first-half penalty. But a stunning comeback from Saudi Arabia after the break saw both Saleh Al- Shehri and Salem Al- Dawsari score five twinkles piecemeal to beat Argentina for the first time since June 2019 an inconceivable run of 36 matches.
Fast response
1. Saudi Arabia makes the biggest drive ever
Argentina did not start the World Cup well, but it was a stunning derangement for them. Saudi Arabia, ranked 51st in the world( between Qatar and Greece), scored doubly in five chaotic twinkles beforehand in the alternate half to record the biggest shock of the competition-- just as Cameroon beat Diego Maradona's reigning titleholders in 1990.
Saudi Arabia was slightly in the game in the first 45 twinkles dominated by Argentina and went off the field at half-time looking like a platoon adhering for dear life. But pretensions from Saleh Al- Shehri and Salem Al- Dawsari- right-footed trouble that flew into the top corner and an early contender for a thing of the event- marked a remarkable reversal.
And while Argentina and its captain Lionel Messi were inspired to make a comeback, they demanded countenance and perfection in front of things.
Argentina managed to reach the final of the 1990 World Cup despite losing to Cameroon in their first game. But after arriving in Qatar as South American titleholders and on the reverse of a 36- match unbeaten run, this crusade has been different. As they did in Russia in 2018, it looks like they're going to work hard again in the group stage.
2. Argentina has only itself to condemn
Lionel Scaloni's side should have been out of sight at half-time but never set up themselves beforehand in the alternate half. They only had themselves to condemn and with a little further care, they could have been 5- 0 up at the break.
Messi had a good chance saved by Mohamed Al-Wais and had three pretensions disallowed for offside after a penalty; doubly from Lautaro Martinez and formerly from Messi.
Saudi Arabia came into the World Cup despite failing to register a single shot in the first half, managing to beat Amy Martinez doubly in five twinkles in the alternate half.
Scaloni's biggest concern was that Argentina had further than 30 twinkles to go after going before to draw or indeed win the game, but they snappily resorted to pumping crosses into the box which the Saudi defense dealt with fluently. With games against Poland and Mexico, Argentina will still believe they can qualify for the knockout rounds but it's not the launch they hoped for.
3. Back up the confidence of Saudi Arabia suckers
Saudi Arabian suckers have crossed the border into Qatar in their thousands and are authentically hoping to match their performance at the 1994 World Cup in the USA when they reached the round of 16. Perhaps before the event started, they were the only bones.
who believed but not presently. utmost of the suckers who traveled to the Lucille Stadium on Tuesday morning admitted that they aren't waiting much from Argentina and that they need to pick up points against Poland and Mexico to advance from Group C but rather they could handle a huge shock for football. Asia-- particularly after Qatar and Iran both opened their juggernauts with humiliating performances against Ecuador and England independently.
They overwhelmed Argentina in the first half and after half-time began to defend like a platoon that kept six clean wastes in qualification. Their last World Cup started with a 5- 0 trouncing by hosts Russia, but what a difference four times can make. A day that will go down in Saudi Arabian football and World Cup history.
